Conversation Topics for English Learners: Mistakes

People don’t like making mistakes. There’s usually a negative result of making a mistake. Most people, try to avoid the unpleasant result of making mistakes. Imagine you’re writing some dialogues in English in which you’ve made a mistake and need to apologize to someone. How would you apologize? What would you say? Here are some suggestions:
— You’re at a movie theater and you accidentally spill your popcorn into another moviegoer’s lap. What would you say?
— You’re walking fast, trying not to be late to a meeting. Unfortunately, you bump into someone who falls down because of you. What would you do? What would you say?
— You were invited to a party and asked to come in at 8pm. It’s now 8:30 pm and you’re late to the party. What would you say to the party hosts?
We’re all human and sometimes we make mistakes. It’s what we do and say when we recognize that we’ve made a mistake that makes a difference.
