— You’re a parent and you go into your children’s room to say good night. What would you say to your children? What would your children say to you?
— You’re married and you’re having a conversation with your spouse about getting ready for bedtime. What would you say to your spouse? What would your spouse say to you?
— You’re out with your friends late at night and you’re feeling sleepy. You want to leave and go home to sleep. What would you tell your friends? What would your friends tell you?
Saying “Good Night” and “Sweet Dreams” is common when people go to bed. What do you say to others at bedtime?

Part 2: Directions: Watch the video, read the text below, then translate the text in your primary language and read it again.

We all need to get something fixed sometime. Today’s conversation topic for English Learners is “Getting Something Fixed”. Imagine you’re getting something fixed. What would you say? What would others say? Here are a few suggestions.
— You called a plumber to come fix your leaky faucet in the kitchen. What would you say to the plumber? What would the plumber tell you?
— Your lights are out and you called an electrician to come fix them. What would you say to the electrician? What would the electrician tell you?
— Your car doesn’t start. You had your car towed to the auto mechanic shop. What would you say to the car mechanic? What would the car mechanic say to you?
We need to remember to be realistic when asking a professional to fix something for us. Their labor takes time and expertise, and the tools and parts they use cost money so we need to show gratitude for the hard work they do for us.

Hello, English Learners. Sometimes we need to discuss with our family about things we need to do or plan for in the future. Today’s conversation topic for English Learners is “Family Plans”. Imagine you are planning something with your family. What would you say to your family? What would your family say to you? Here are a few suggestions:
— There is a roof leak and water leaks into your house whenever it rains. You discuss with your family to get a roofer to come fix your roof. What would you say to your family? What would your family say to you?
— You’re planning a vacation for next summer with your entire family but you don’t know where to go yet. What would you ask your family? What would your family tell you?
— You want to organize a family game night for your entire family to enjoy. What would you tell your family? What would your family tell you?

  1. Hello,
To tell good night or have sweet dreams is very fine.
Getting something fixed by himself is very nice instead to call someone to fix it.
Discussing with our family about to do something is important.
    Have fun English learners.

  2. Good afternoon.
I am ready for bedtime early before 11 pm, when I am feeling sleeping, but my daughters go to bed around 2 or 3 hours after. They do not make noise, and just listen music or watch movies on the computer.
I have my car towed to the mechanic shop in two or three times. This kind of service is expensive in a big shop, but if you have a good mechanic to fix small problems you save money.
To eliminate any water leaks whenever it rains is easy, just keep maintenance in your roof every three or four years. But if you see a few roof leak call your roofer to fix it without loose time.
    Thanks a lot.
