Conversation Topics for English Learners: Talking It Over

When you need to bring up an old topic and discuss it, you’re “Talking it Over”. Imagine you have to discuss something from the past with your friends in English. What would you say? What would your friends say? Here are a few suggestions:
— Last week you talked with your friends about planning a summer vacation together. You ask your friends to meet so you can discuss your plans together and make some solid decisions. What would you tell your friends? What would your friends tell you?
— You asked your date to marry you last week, but she still has not given you an answer. You invite her for a walk in the park and bring up the subject again. What would you ask your date? What would your date tell you?
— Your parents promised to help pay for your education if you work part-time while in school. You invite your parents to dinner, and share with them that you wish for them to help you with your school tuition. What would you say to your parents? What would your parents say to you?
When you discuss again an old topic, make sure you speak clearly and give examples to help people understand your point of view.
