Conversation Topics for English Learners: Shopping

Shopping happens everywhere on Earth. If you want to shop, you need to communicate. Imagine you’re in San Francisco, in the United States of America, and you’re having conversations in English about shopping. What would you say? What would others say to you? Here are a few suggestions:
— You’re at a shoe store, and you find a pair of shoes you like, but can’t find your shoe size. What would you say to the shoe salesperson? What would the salesperson say to you?
— You’re at the world famous Ghirardelli store in San Francisco. You want to buy some chocolate for your family, but you don’t know what to choose. What would you ask the salesperson? What would the salesperson say to you?
— You’ve been saving money and doing lots of research on new cars. You know the carmaker, the model, and the color of the car you want to buy. What would you tell the car salesperson? What would the car salesperson tell you?
Shopping in the United States of America can be a pleasant experience when you communicate clearly and effectively in English. What would you buy right now if you had money to spend?
