Hi English Learners. Do you like going to movie theaters? One thing about movie theaters is that they’re usually crowded and you can’t easily find the seats you want. Sometimes people disrupt the fun of movie watching by talking or checking their phones during a movie. What are your favorite things about movie theaters? What are your pet peeves about movie theaters? Imagine different conversations in English at a crowded movie theater. What would you say? What would others say to you? Here are some suggestions:
— You are at a crowded movie theater and you want to buy popcorn and drinks. You wait in line and then it’s your turn to purchase refreshments and popcorn. What would you say?
— You’re trying to get to an empty seat but there are several people already sitting down. What would you say?
— You’re trying to watch a movie but the person next to you fell asleep and is snoring, what would you do or say to solve this problem?
Think about different conversations you can have in English at a movie theater. Think about what movies you’d like to watch at a movie theater and what you would say about them.

Part 2: Directions: Watch the video, read the text below, then translate the text in your primary language and read it again.

People don’t like making mistakes. There’s usually a negative result of making a mistake. Most people, try to avoid the unpleasant result of making mistakes. Imagine you’re writing some dialogues in English in which you’ve made a mistake and need to apologize to someone. How would you apologize? What would you say? Here are some suggestions:
— You’re at a movie theater and you accidentally spill your popcorn into another moviegoer’s lap. What would you say?
— You’re walking fast, trying not to be late to a meeting. Unfortunately, you bump into someone who falls down because of you. What would you do? What would you say?
— You were invited to a party and asked to come in at 8pm. It’s now 8:30 pm and you’re late to the party. What would you say to the party hosts?
We’re all human and sometimes we make mistakes. It’s what we do and say when we recognize that we’ve made a mistake that makes a difference.

Part 3: Directions: Watch the video, read the text below, then translate the text in your primary language and read it again. Finally, add a comment about what you learned from Parts 1, 2, and 3 in the comments section below.

If the person next to me falls asleep, I would try to move to another seat. This is possible in my twon becase normally the movie theater is empty.
