Part 1: Directions: Watch the video, read the text below, then translate the text in your primary language and read it again.

Today’s conversation topic for English Learners is “Parents’ Night Out”. Imagine that you’re a parent and you want to have a night out with your spouse. What would you say to your spouse? What would your spouse say to you? Here are a few suggestions:

  1. It’s your anniversary, so you call your spouse to say “Happy Anniversary” and make an invitation to a fancy restaurant. Your spouse is happy, but says you need to call a babysitter to take care of the children while you’re out at the restaurant. What would you tell your spouse? What would your spouse tell you?
  2. You decide to surprise your spouse with a night out to the movies. You call the babysitter to make arrangements for her to babysit your children while you’re out with your spouse. What would you say to the babysitter? What would the babysitter tell you?
  3. You’re out with your spouse walking at a beautiful park. Your spouse is worried that the children might be misbehaving at home with the babysitter. What would you tell your spouse? What would your spouse tell you?
    It’s difficult for parents to have a regular “Parents’ Night Out”, but with proper planning and preparation, it could be a fun, enjoyable event.

The stronger the economy a country has, the better quality of life its citizens have. Sooner or later, you’ll have to talk about the economy in English. Today’s conversation topic for English Learners is: “Discussing the Economy.” What would you talk with others about the economy? Here are a few examples:
— You’ve noticed inflation kicking in and the cost of things raising in all areas. What would say about this to your friends? What would your friends say to you?
— There’s been a report on a major loss of employment in your country and you’re talking with your professor about it. What would you tell your professor? What would your professor tell you?
— Credit has become quite difficult to get in your country. You’re talking with a bank loan officer about it. What would you tell the loan officer? What would the loan officer tell you?
It is important that you’re able to talk about the economy in the English language. What are some of the economic issues affecting your country right now?

— You have a major tooth ache and you’re making a call to your dentist to make an emergency appointment. What would you say? What would the dental office receptionist say to you?
— You receive a call from your dental office that you’re overdue for a tooth cleaning. What would you say? What would the dental receptionist say to you?
— You just got an x-ray for your teeth and your dentist talks to you about needing a tooth implant. What would you tell your dentist? What would your dentist tell you?
Going to the dentist regularly is an important preventative step you can make in order to protect your health. Do you visit your dentist regularly?

      What are some economic issues affecting your country right now?

      Currently, Venezuela is suffering a big crisis, which, during Bolivarian Revolution is an ongoing socioeconomic and political crisis that began during the presidency of Hugo Chavez and has continued since. It is market by the hyperinflation, escalating starvation, disease, crime and mortality, resulting in a massive emigration from the country
      This situation is the worst socioeconomic and political crisis in venezuela’s history.

      PART 3 VISITING TO THE DENTIST.
      Me) Oh, my tooth is sore. I have a toothache, I’m going to call to the dentist.
      Recepcionist) Hello, this is the dentist office, what can I help you?
      Me) I have a toothache and I need the Doctor check me up today. It’s an emergency.
      Recepcionist) Ok. Come to the office right now. The Doctor will check you up.
      Me) Thank you very much.
      At the office…
      Doctor) Let me check you up. Ok, ready. You have a toothache because you have a cavity and it began to rot right down to. The root in your tooth. That’s causing you pain in the nerve in you mouth. I’m going to repair it.

    compared to last year prices are raised 30%. This inflation worries me. Our government must do something immediately to stop inflation. Yes, I agree.

    I might be learning with more practice and listening these audios.

    ¡What’s interesting topic! The economy in my country is very strange. The inflation kicking us every month, and we need earn money in dollars’ bills because our coin loose values every month. The employer pays in dollar in order to give attractive employment and kept the business open; so the price of things rising like the dollars’ value rise.
    Talk about major aches come me memories not good. I broke a little piece of a tooth because I fell down over a lot of bottles. That event sent me to the dental office and it was fixed, so the problem didn’t big but I began this story with major ache.

    In my country commonly the grandma or an aunt make the role of a babysitter, sometimes is difficult to get a babysitter on time.

    What are some of the economic issues affecting your country right now?
    In Honduras, the rate of inflation is -4.27% according to data provided by The Central Bank of Honduras estimated on 2021. Regardless of that the authorities to the Central Bank have said that there’s positive news, although the changes to the dollars have suffered the slightest ups and downs, by another lade the fuel prices have had the slightest improvement, to prevent soars to the foodstuffs the government have to take action freezing prices to avoid shortages.

    Do you visit your, dentist, regularly?
    Yes, it is important mainly to avoid future illnesses that can cause major damage to the health, as in the case of the Coronavirus that can grab to infections and cause until the deaths. So, is important to go to the dentist for a checkup.
