Today’s conversation topic for English Learners is “Parents’ Night Out”. Imagine that you’re a parent and you want to have a night out with your spouse. What would you say to your spouse? What would your spouse say to you? Here are a few suggestions:
- It’s your anniversary, so you call your spouse to say “Happy Anniversary” and make an invitation to a fancy restaurant. Your spouse is happy, but says you need to call a babysitter to take care of the children while you’re out at the restaurant. What would you tell your spouse? What would your spouse tell you?
- You decide to surprise your spouse with a night out to the movies. You call the babysitter to make arrangements for her to babysit your children while you’re out with your spouse. What would you say to the babysitter? What would the babysitter tell you?
- You’re out with your spouse walking at a beautiful park. Your spouse is worried that the children might be misbehaving at home with the babysitter. What would you tell your spouse? What would your spouse tell you?
It’s difficult for parents to have a regular “Parents’ Night Out”, but with proper planning and preparation, it could be a fun, enjoyable event.
